Cleanings & Check Ups
Good oral hygiene is important, not only for looks, but for general health as well. Poor oral hygiene can lead to a variety of dental and medical problems such as gum disease, infection, bone loss, heart disease, strokes and more. Regular cleanings can prevent bad breath, gum diseases and oral cancer. During a cleaning we can detect potential tooth problems, as well as create a treatment plan to restore your smile to a functional, healthy and beautiful state.

At Don Mills-Eglinton Dental Centre, we recommend regular dental check-ups every 6-12 months to maintain a healthy smile. For some, healthy gums can be maintained by a polishing of teeth by one of our certified dental hygienists; for others, long term periodontal health can only be maintained by specialized deep cleanings at 3-4 month intervals.
Gingivitis Treatment
Gingivitis is an infection and an inflammation of the gums in the beginning stage. It manifests itself by bleeding gums, but without reaching the bone that supports the teeth. Without proper care and treatment, this can lead to Peridontitis, also known as Gum Disease.

Gingivitis can be treated by:

-
Rigorous oral hygiene at home, including brushing regularly and flossing at least once a day. Rinsing with salt water or a disinfectant solution (Chlorhexidine, Listerine, etc.) can also be recommended.
-
A dental cleaning, including tartar removal every six months to eliminate the plaque and tartar.
Digital X-Rays
Digital imaging, or X-rays, provides high-resolution images of your teeth, bones, and surrounding soft tissues, helping to detect and diagnose issues with the teeth, mouth, and jaw. This modern technology minimizes exposure time, reducing radiation by up to 90% compared to traditional X-rays. Within moments, the detailed images are displayed on a computer screen, eliminating the need for film development and enabling faster, more efficient dental care.
Children’s Dentistry
At Don Mills-Eglinton Dental Centre, children’s dentistry is an important part of what we do at our North York dental office. We recommend scheduling your child’s first visit between the ages of 2 and 3. A “show and tell” appointment is often the perfect way to introduce kids to the dental office, helping them develop positive associations free from anxiety or fear. During this visit, children can watch their parents' teeth being cleaned, explore the dental chair, and, if comfortable, have a simple visual examination.

Preventative treatments like fluoride applications and dental sealants are excellent tools to keep your child cavity-free. However, proper oral hygiene, along with a balanced diet and good nutrition, is just as vital. At our office, we actively involve and educate your child, empowering them to maintain a healthy, cavity-free smile for a lifetime.
Root Canal Therapy
Contrary to popular belief, root canal therapy doesn’t cause pain—it relieves it! Thanks to advancements in dental technology, the procedure is now virtually pain-free, offering a comfortable solution for treating infections and saving your tooth.

Preserving your natural tooth is always the better choice. Keeping the tooth helps maintain proper alignment, preventing neighboring teeth from shifting and avoiding potential jaw or bite issues. By saving your natural tooth, you eliminate the need for artificial replacements, ensuring long-term oral health and functionality.
